Aussies notable absentees

Major Bronski. He’s a son of champion sire Art Major and Fake Left mare Bronski Gorgeous.

He has had 35 individual winners from his first four crops

Major Bronski also has the distinction of being the only Australian-bred stallion with progeny contesting the Vicbred Super Series two-year-old pacing heats at Shepparton on Sunday, December 13.

Heritage Lady is a filly by Major Bronski and will run in the third of three heats for fillies.

And it is much the same in the three-year-old heats at Ballarat on Friday, December 11.

There’s three there - Wally Walton, Restrepo and Barna Straide.

Wally Walton was a group 3 winner which contested most of the big feature races in Victoria in the late 1990s and early 2000s – winning 24 races for almost $400,000 in stakes.

By Walton Hanover, Wally Walton has had limited opportunities at stud for 16 winners from only 34 starters.

His representative at Ballarat is one of those winners - gelding Classact.

Restrepo is a son of Art Major which won 19 races, including the group 1 Ballarat Pacing Cup, for $500,000-plus.

He has had just six foals to the races for three winners.

These include Urbadboy, which goes into the VSS fresh from winning a group 2 Southern Cross Series final in South Australia.

Barna Straide is an unraced son of Jeremes Jet, and has had just the one foal filly Hows The Serenity.

And for the record, there were no Australian-bred sires represented in the Vicbred Super Series four-year-old heats at Bendigo on Thursday, December 10.

So who are the sires with runners in the Vicbred Super Series two and three-year-old pacing heats?
