First Victorian 2yo of season maintains family bloodlines

Federal Cabinet was as honest as they come in her racing career.

Trained by Paul Brumby at Great Western, Federal Cabinet won 14 races and was placed another 29 times in 95 starts.

However, she has left her biggest mark in the breeding barn as the foundation broodmare of prolific-winning family.

Federal Cabinet produced seven winners in her own right.

Trouble No More headlined her offspring 27 wins and 49 placings in 165 starts.

The Good Guy racked up 20 wins, Dont Tell Lib 20 and the Good Girl 5.

Then came the next generation.

– Dont Tell Lib: six winners (including Our Surfer Girl 8 wins, Donttellmehetrots 7 wins, Lifeslittlesecret 5 wins, Art Of deception 5 wins)

– Party Time Girl: three winners (Wroxton Playboy 9 wins)

And the next generation:

– Our Surfer Girl: 1 winner (Onthecrestofaweave 3 wins)

The latest in the family line will make his debut at Geelong on Wednesday, January 24, in the first 2yo pace of the season in Victoria.

GEIGER is a son of Auckland Reactor and The Good Girl, which has had only other foal to the races.

The gelding is trained by Terry Young at Great Western.

FAMILY TIES OF OTHER STARTERS:

HUGO ROCKS (trained by Ashleigh Herbertson at Burrumbeet): will be just the third progeny by US-bred sire Pet Rock to get to the races, with each of other two each racing once for placings Leeton Plate series. His mother Hanover Chance has had to foals to the races for two winners including Our Chance Todream (2 wins).

SOHO THUNDERSTRUCK (Michael Stanley, Burrumbeet): first foal out of 11-time winner Hear No Secret to race.

FOOLISH PLEASURE (Ashleigh Herbertson at Burrumbeet): SCRATCHED, but he’s a run down in any case.  Rocknroll Dance gelding out of Vouvray (1 win), which has left two winners – Chenine Valley (3 wins in Tasmania) and Vouvray Beach (3 wins in Tasmania). Vouvray is full sister to Space racer US (16 wins), Allamerican Rand US (3 wins) and half-sister to Allamerican Racquel US (8 wins).

SCHEU CREEK (Peter Manning, Great Western): just the second starter for Victoria Cup, SA Cup and Chariots of Fire winner Caribbean Blaster. Out of unraced mare Think Ucan Dance, which has left Miss Rivkah (2 wins).

MAJOR EXCLUSIVE (Sonya Smith, Melton): an Art Major colt out of Saved A Corka (24 wins), which won SA Southern Cross 3yo fillies’ final. Full brother to Aspiring Artist (27 wins), Rap Artist (20 wins) and Our Little Artist (16 wins). Saved A Corka full or half-sister to 11 winners, including Hes A Corka (45 wins).

GOTTAHAVEAHOBBY (Brooke Hansen, Armstrong): Well Said gelding out of At Tee Em (13 wins) and half-brother to Pin Code (8 wins).
