Michael Stanley hands over stable reins to Greg Sugars

Driven by GREG SUGARS, trained by MICHAEL STANLEY.

This is a combination the Victorian trots scene is going to see a lot more of.

The Burrumbeet-based Stanley has chosen to hand over most of the stable driving to Sugars while he turns his focus to training and all that goes with running an expanding stable.

And the move could not have made a much better start.

Sugars and Stanley landed two wins within the space of 24 hours at Ballarat and Melton at the weekend.

They won with SAMMY STRIKES ($3.90) in the Turnbull Lawyers Melbourne C0 Pace, 1710, in Ballarat, on Friday, November 3, and then backed up with relative stable newcomer MACEY JAYDE ($1.80 favourite) in the Pointon Partners 3yo Pace, 2240, at Melton on Saturday, November 4.

A filly by Shadow Play, Macey Jayde was having her first start for Stanley after previously being trained by Ross Pike.

Pike campaigned her in the Vicbred Super Series, reaching the semi-finals with Stanley in the cart.

The Melton win was her first career success in nine starts.
