STEPHENS DOING THEIR WAY
Whatever else pacer Iamawingate does in his racing career he will always have a special place in Allendale’s Stephens family.
He will have the distinction of being the first and only homebred winning foal by Stephens family favourite I Am The Way NZ.
CROWN SALUTES BREEDING FRATERNITY
As the name suggests, the Breeders Crown salutes the breeders.
They might not be to the fore on race night, but the breeders should rightly be saluted in this rich Victorian-based carnival.
Always a thrill to breed a winner, but a group winner is something else.
AUSSIE SIRES ON OUTER
Australian-bred stallion Classic Garry had a major influence in the early days of the Breeders Crown.
He sired the two-year-old fillies’ final winner Lombo Adreamin in the inaugural series in Bendigo in 1998.
Three years later a son of Classic Garry, Chandon, sired the winner of the two-year-old colts and geldings final – Henschke.
